Tree Adoption Foundation is seeking to introduce trees to areas without trees. This is the process of creating new forests by planting trees in areas without previous tree cover or forest ecosystems. Therefore, TAF’s aim involves converting barren or non-forested lands into thriving forests. Most northern counties of Kenya are considered arid and semi-arid (ASAL) land offering fertile land for afforestation. We are looking to implement this process through direct tree planting, seeding, or encouraging natural forest regeneration. With support from counties and central government, TAF aims to have designated areas cordoned off to encourage afforestation. The ASAL in Kenya forms a very large percentage of land mass. By aggressively introducing new forests in the ASAL areas, we envisage a vibrant ecosystem emerging providing an eco-balance in the region. We as TAF believe that several benefits will emerge with afforestation in relation to combating global warming.
