Environmental Education and Donor Involvement

Tree Adoption Foundation (TAF) seeks to incorporate the local communities in all aspects of tree planting. We consider the local community as a key cog in realizing our goal. We aspire to involve donors in every step of community development in order to tap into their knowledge of running such projects. Community development projects will empower communities with knowledge, foster ownership, and integrate resources and expertise effectively.

Some of the target groups include Local schools, women’s groups, local men’s associations, local leadership, sports groups within the action environment, religious groups, and church/Muslim organizations. The education aspect will have a 10-fold effect on the success of the program by virtue of having a tailor-made program that fits the needs of the local community.

Tree Adoption Foundation believes that by including the donor community, the local communities are likely to benefit in many ways. Donors provide funding for participatory workshops, focus groups, community consultations, development of educational materials like posters, brochures, and digital content, fund logistical support, and offer incentives for successful community afforestation.

They support the development of culturally appropriate educational materials, supply initial resources like seedling kits, kickstart initial nurseries, fund monitoring and evaluation tools to track community progress, provide international visibility to local programs, act as facilitators to cross-cultural exchanges and learning between communities and external experts, and invest in programs linking afforestation to sustainable economic development.
